Hello!

My name is Melissa Sorge, and I am a holistically focused, trauma-informed Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC-C) with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada. I am deeply committed to supporting individuals on their life journeys within a confidential, non-judgmental, and unbiased environment. My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and a profound reverence for personal autonomy and self-expression. Through a collaborative therapeutic process, we will work together to harness your strengths and values, ensuring that therapy is meaningful and transformative. Your voice, values, and unique expression are always honoured and encouraged in our sessions!

In addition to my training as a counsellor, I have my Somatic Anxiety Therapy Certification. This specialization allows me to integrate body-based techniques to help individuals navigate anxiety, perfectionism, relational challenges, and life’s broader struggles. By focusing on somatic awareness, my goal is to help you feel more grounded, empowered, and connected to your true self.

Alongside Somatic Therapy, my practice is informed by a variety of therapeutic approaches some of which include Narrative Therapy, DBT, CBT and Emotional Freedom Technique. I work with individuals from all belief systems, faiths, and spiritual practices and specialize in supporting highly sensitive individuals, offering a space where your intuitive and empathic nature can be seen, validated, and nurtured. I believe sensitivity is a strength, and together we can explore how to navigate the world with resilience and authenticity. I am also a trained meditation teacher, as well as a certified Life Skills Coach.

With over two decades of experience as a Dance Educator and Choreographer, I have had the privilege of working with individuals across all ages and abilities, with a particular emphasis on adolescents. My work spans a variety of dynamic environments, including film and stage, which has allowed me to explore and cultivate a wide range of creative expressions. This extensive background deepens my understanding of the body and enhances my ability to incorporate this knowledge into a therapeutic context. In addition to my work in dance, I have also practiced as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, specializing in fertility, hormonal health, and the nutritional needs of children and athletes.

My path into counselling was deeply personal, shaped by my own experience of a mental health crisis and a transformative journey of self-discovery. This experience has instilled in me a strong desire to help others heal trauma, process grief, find inner balance, and rediscover their sense of self. Therapy and energetic healing were instrumental in my own journey, and it is my privilege to offer these tools to others in their pursuit of healing. Outside of my professional work, I am passionate about movement, including running, yoga and dancing. Writing poetry and expressing myself through words is another key part of my life, and I love sharing this creative outlet with my husband and two children.

I look forward to the opportunity to connect with you and support you on your unique journey!
